If you published a romance novel or novella in 2024, now is your chance to gain national recognition for your work. The National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award (NERFA), sponsored by First Coast Romance Writers (FCRW), is accepting submissions until midnight on March 31, 2025. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your talent and have your story celebrated by readers and industry professionals alike.
Why Enter NERFA?
NERFA honors outstanding published romance fiction and is judged by avid romance readers. Winners are selected from three finalists in each category by a panel of bloggers, booksellers, and librarians, providing your work with esteemed recognition within the literary community.
Submission Guidelines:
Eligibility: Your work must have been published in digital format in the United States in 2024. All entries must have an original copyright date of 2024 and must have been available for purchase in the U.S. during that year. Independent press, self-published, and digital-first or digital-only books are welcome, provided they meet all eligibility requirements.
Entry Format: Submit your book as a single PDF file, ensuring the title is included in the file name.
Entry Fee: A $40 entrance fee is required. Payment must be received no later than March 31, 2025. After completing the entry form, you will be directed to PayPal for secure payment processing.
How to Enter:
Complete the Online Entry Form: Visit the NERFA Entry Form page to fill out the required information.
Upload Your PDF: Attach your book’s PDF file with the appropriate title in the file name.
Submit Payment: Upon submitting the form, you’ll be directed to PayPal to process the $40 entry fee securely.

Submission Deadline: March 31, 2025
First Round Judging: April 8 – May 19, 2025
Finalists Announced: June 1, 2025
Final Round Judging: June 1 – June 30, 2025
