Two NERFA Winners Promoted and Three to Go

2024 NERFA Winner Barb Delong
We have created separate promotional videos for two of our 2024 National Excellence in Romance Fiction Awards with the first, Barb DeLong with her story called Witch Whisperer who won the Speculative Romance and First Book categories.

Perfectionist witch Willow Gladstone will go to any lengths to improve her weak and glitchy magic in order to avoid incarceration in the secret witch society’s Haven. She doesn’t bargain for a rehab residency with the one person she’d like to avoid—the exasperating, but sexy, on-line magic fixer The Witch Whisperer.

Reclusive Never Ravenwood, aka The Witch Whisperer, hates relationships. Content to live out his lengthy sentence for past misdeeds alone on a secluded estate, he doesn’t welcome the distracting intrusion of beautiful Willow. Finding a cure for Willow’s broken magic takes them on extraordinary journeys through a portal to another realm full of danger, friends and foe. What will they sacrifice for life and love?

Author Sophie Sullivan 2024 NERFA Contemporary Romance Winner
And Sophie Sullivan with her book, A Guide to Being Just Friends, won the Contemporary Romance Category. She sent in a short video with her award and we truly appreciate that she took the time to send it to us.

Hailey Sharp has a one-track mind. Get By the Cup salad shop off the ground. Do literally everything possible to make it a success. Repeat. With a head full of entrepreneurial ideas and a bad ex in her rearview, her one and only focus is living life the way she wants to. No distractions.

Wes Jansen never did understand the fuss about relationships. With a string of lackluster first dates and the pain from his parents’ angry divorce following him around, he’d much rather find someone who he likes, but won’t love. Companionship, not passion, is the name of the game.

Featured Winner

Author Kathryn Hills 2024 NERFA Winner for Novela RomanceThis week we feature author, Kathryn Hills and her story called Staging Christmas that won in the Novella Category for 2024 – National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award (NERFA).

A comeback queen with a tarnished tiara. A computer nerd in over his head. All it takes is a car crash, a rescue dog, and a century-old ski lodge to make them believe in holiday magic.

Kendall Worthington lands herself on the naughty list the moment she crosses the Dickens town line. No one anticipates a car accident. But leave it to her to wreck a local woman’s car. Not just any car. A wedding present from the lady’s beloved groom. It’s no surprise since Kendall considers herself cursed when it comes to love, romance, and all things wedding related. After all her own nuptials disintegrated. Now she’s sworn off men and relocated to the place known for its holiday cheer to start over as a single, independent woman.

Jamie Frisk knows all about challenges, the latest being how he’s going to pay off the astronomical mortgage on the mysterious Dickens landmark he purchased on impulse. What’s a software engineer going to do with a massive, fixer-upper like The Iron Gate Lodge? Open it to paying guests again? His family thinks he’s crazy, and he’s beginning to agree with them. Thankfully, he’s got one very special woman with a flair for staging a comeback on his side.

Amidst all the spackle and paint—plus a hefty dose of holiday hijinks—these misfits manage to breathe new life into a place steeped in a legacy of love. Could they possibly host a wedding by Christmas? Working together they might just pull it off. And, with the help of Dickens’ magic, they may even fall in love along the way.
